the track 'parin onia' from purlieu was played on bbc radio 6 music, as part of the future sound of london's (yes, that fsol!) sixmix programme tonight. see the tracklist here.

full-source release.
full-source is releasing his album empathy's last stand on july 17th. the album features the track 'the significant other' recorded with second thought. ross provided synths, guitar and bass to the epic track. the album comes highly recommended and can be bought from the full-source website.

awakenings gig.
the awakenings show at brudenell social club, leeds, has been moved forward two weeks to 30th september 2005 - sorry for any inconvenience this will cause.

to preceed the coming awakenings gigs, a three-disc compilation has been released, featuring two tracks by second thought - machine and rooftops. more info in the discography.

i've got an article published on electronicmusicworld.com, featuring my top ten albums of the year. thanks to stefan. a longer and more detailed list can be seen on my own personal music page, which will, eventually, be expanded into something larger. as it stands, it can be found here.

we are afraid to announce that due to unforseen circumstances at second thought records, both 'twenty-four' and 'rooftops' are currently unavailable. we'll let you know if and when these cds become available again.

new material.
at last we can present some new material from second thought: two new tracks from 'vacuum road songs' have been uploaded. the ambient 'night' and hip-hop 'closed loops of a vehicle' can be downloaded at musicv2 and artistserver.

live.
we're happy to confirm that second thought will be playing at the ambientlive awakenings show on 14th october 2005 in leeds, uk. more information can be found on the awakenings website. there is also talk of a performance nearer to the present, also in leeds, with keef baker. more news to follow

soundtrack.
ross baker has been commissioned to work with producer andrew wright to soundtrack a currently untitled short film by rupe kooner. info coming soon

new wesite.
as you may have noticed, the second thought website and domain has changed. there is a new design here, and the official second thought site is now secondthought.co.uk, whilst the now closed second thought records takes second place at secondthought.co.uk/records. there are plenty of new things to look at, such as a new photography section, an extended biography and a tidied up discography. i hope you like the new design, and if there are any problems or bugs, please let me know!

new album.
as you may see, the frontpage now shows 'second thought vacuum road songs'. vacuum road songs will be the title of the next album. as the artwork suggests, it will be based around a city concept, rather than the rural setting of purlieu. read more in the bio and discography sections. news on record label and release dates as soon as they arrive.

added to the press section now is a review of purlieu from internationally distribued print magazine 'the wire', issue 246. the magazine can be found in good music stores everywhere!

second thought is to feature on the xltronic.com compilation DVD 'the disk', to be released later this year. more infomation on 'the disk' is available here.

radio.
second thought's 'december', from 'purlieu', was played on american radio station feedback monitor. thanks to greg clow.

multi-panel.
multi-panel's album 'alone in the field' is out now on unschooled records. the album features the track 'the old times', which second thought's 'time' is based on, plus several tracks second thought has remixed in the past.

theres a new track in the media section now, called 'machine'. it's a mix of an old 2T track, and will be featuring on the next second thought album. enjoy!

2T to retire from music.
After axing the guitar-based So Far So Good project earlier in the year, Ross Baker has now called it quits to making music under his 2T alias.
"2T started out as a silly side project, which became semi-serious for a while, before turning into a fully fledged IDM act last year. However, a couple of things made me decide to kill the name and just further the experiments as Second Thought. Firstly, the last 2T track I finished, Maching, was melodic and quite atmospheric, and in many ways, more like Second Thought than 2T. Secondly, the album I'm working on now really needs a harsher edge, and if I was to introduce that into the Second Thought sound, it would render 2T useless anyway. With some of the ideas on the next two Second Thought albums, the projects had effectively combined anyway."
The forthcoming 2T album, 'Water Or Jazz', has now changed status from shelved to cancelled. But if you were waiting to hear it, don't panic just yet.
"A lot of the material and ideas from 'Water Or Jazz' will probably make it onto the next album. I've already got a new version of Maching, and a couple of other tracks are definitely going to be put out. Also, you haven't heard the last of So Far So Good, who'll be popping his ugly head up on the odd Second Thought release in the future."

second thought is to be playing at the next Ambient Live show, in Notting Hill, London. no date is set currently, but details will be posted here and on the Ambient Live website soon.
