The Future
Sound Of London - Vertical Pig (06:44)
Available on: Lifeforms
Lyrics:
None
Notes:
The opening flute, samples, bells and water section of the track
is possibly the most relaxing and blissful section of Lifeforms,
which is typically coupled with the rest of the song, a
distressingly paranoid piece with a cacophony of sounds coming
from all sides and a pulsing, clattering rhythm. As with a lot of
the second disc of Lifeforms, the piece suggests a very sinister
nature about the exotic setting of the record. A slightly faster
mix of the song features on the Lifeforms video with some frantic
visuals which add to the dark nature of the track. The title was
one of Phillip Pinn's, according to Gaz:
"Initially a book started in the mid eighties by Pinn, this
refers to experiments conducted with transplanting pigs hearts
into humans' bodies - a man sustained life with full faculty for
twelve days and three hours he became known as the Vertical
Pig"
