The
Amorphous Androgynous - The Prophet (04:49)
Available on: Alice In Ultraland
Lyrics:
None
Notes:
The Prophet's first apperance was, confusingly, under the name Yes My
Brother on The Isness. The 50 second funk track there was
greatly extended to add a number of other instruments, such as
wah-guitar and hammond organ and extended sections for its
appearance as The Prophet. It was first heard in this form on the
SixMix radio show on 2nd May 2004. The piece was inspired by a
dream Gaz had about Miles Davis. Yes My Brother featured, in the
credits, 'crotch-o-matic bass moduation' by Philip Pinn, who is
absent from these credits, thus it is suppoesd that Mutant
Funkoid is Pinn.
Gaz explains: "listening as they were in 2003 to Miles
Davis' forays into psychedelia of the late sixties with albums
like Dark Magus the Amorphous band could see the similarities to
some aspects of their own Amorphous vibe - fuelled with this they
set about creating a SCHIZOPHRENIC COSMIC ABSTRACT FUNKOID
freeform jam - the Prophet was born with its crazy keyboards and
dirty sleazoid porno growl of a bassline"
