Lyrics:
I'm feeling so wise in my peppermint tree
No one can feel quite as wise as me
But the road it's long and ever so steep
So look to the man in the peppermint tree
All that he wants is for you to see
He is the guru who wants you to be free
He's singing songs of love in his peppermint tree
Singing songs of joy, he just wants you to be free
Singing li-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di
Singing li-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di
Standing on the corner man checking at her aura
And all the people know they can see my golden glow
As I stare through the universe from my peppermint tree
No one can see or hear or feel quite like me
And all that I want is for you to see
That there is no meaning to you and me
I'm singing songs of love from my peppermint tree
Singing songs of joy, I just want you to be free
Singing li-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di
Singing li-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di
Singing li-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di
Singing li-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di
Notes:
A title that circulated prior to The Isness was The Peppermint
Tree, the track featured on the same pictures page as Drifter and on the 2001 EPK video. Nothing was
heard of the song since, though, and it was rumoured to have
turned into Guru Song,
due to the credit "initial mono recordings recovered from
'The Peppermint Tree.'" In 2007 the band announced via
YouTube a forthcoming album of the same name, with the title
track eventually revealed on FSOL's exclusive Freeze Magazine mix
CD. The sitar and acoustic-based singalong finds Gaz in a John
Lennon-esque voice, singing his usual spiritual feelings. The
song's outro features a bizarre array of sounds, flutes and
tubas, lending a whimsical nature to the song. An edit appeared
on the FSOL Digital Mix.
