Amorphous Androgynous - Meadows (03:29)
Available on:
The Isness

Lyrics:
Calls back a time when there were meadows as far as the eye could see, tall green grass that you could lie down and go to sleep in. There were valleys and fresh air in the skies, flowers all over the Earth, of indescribable shape and colour. I used to think as I lay in those meadows watching clouds spinning across the sky "what would happen if all this incredible beauty was lost for all time?"

Notes:
The opening vocals are originally from a science fiction movie the band used to sample in their ISDN shows. However, sample clearance was tricky so the words were re-read by Alexa Hamilton for the album. The soft voice suits the piece - heavily inspired by Fleetwood Mac's Albatross - far better than the shouted original. The song is a guitar-led, sunny piece, and features a scream which may be familiar to those who have Dead Cities. It is the first track to be co-produced since the intial Amorphous Androgynous outing in 1993. It doesn't differ on either version of The Isness. The track was released as a promo CD in 2001, although little to nothing is known of the release.
