THE FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON - ENVIRONMENTS 2 (2008)![]() MP3 (FSOLDigital.com) 29th August 2008/CD (CDTOT62) 5th January 2009 01. Viewed From Above 02. Glacier (Part 1) 03. Serengeti 04. Glacier (Part 2) Notes: The second album in the Environments series described by the band as "past, present, future", containing updated and enhanced archived material next to new FSOL recordings. The album is the first to feature a heavy modern classical influence, hinted at on the last few tracks on Alice in Ultraland, but given more life here. Strings, choir, acoustic guitar, bells and other acoustic sounds blend with the band's most ambient selection of works to date (fewer than half of the tracks feature any sort of rhythm); the music and titles combine to suggest an epic, icy environment. The album features contributions from Max Richter, Daniel Pemberton, Chris Margory, Robert Fripp, Colin Bell and Will White. Much of the material originates from the band's 1990s sessions, while "Viewed From Above" and "Small Town" were recent recordings upon the album's release. Purchase from FSOLDigital. |
