One of FSOL's most ambient tracks, Elaborate Burn is based around a number of synth pad loops, which are layered and alternate throughout the track. The piece fits the mood of the album much better than the Cascade EP, where it appears as Cascade Part 3. Gaz says, on the title:
"Not, as suggested, some reference to wartime burn mutilation - quite simply being burnt or ripped off in business - only persons on the inside can acheive an elaborate burn, however".
