THE FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON - EGGSHELL EP (1994)

Unreleased (VSCDT1520/ASW6140)

Potential tracks:
Eggshell
Climbing
Globular
Lifeforms-era 'Archive' tracks

Notes:
A third and final single from Lifeforms was planned but never released. Several years ago, an official forthcoming Astralwerks releases list from 1994 appeared online (we're guessing on they hyperreal mailing list, but memory does not always serve correctly), although the reference has now disappeared. On this were
Environments, and an Eggshell EP for release in late 1994. It is apparent that with various planned projects for 1994/1995 (Lifeforms, Lifeforms EP, Eggshell EP, Environments, Smokin Japanese Babe, Promo 500, ISDN Black, Far Out Son Of Lung, ISDN White, second ISDN single...), some fell by the wayside, and this was one.
Most of the content of the EP is unknown, but the Archives series did throw up a short 'interlude' piece based on the main melody from Eggshell, the lovely 'Climbing', which may have come from ideas for the EP. The Globular exhibition soundtrack in 2006 featured newly recorded material alongside music remixed from Eggshell, which may also have been based on the EP sessions. With the band's EPs often featuring remixes of other tracks (Elaborate Burn reworked for the Cascade EP, Everyone In The World appearing as part of My Kingdom Part 3...), it is possible material like Turn Around and Room 207 was due for appearance on the EP. But this is speculation at its most... speculative.
On a personal level, Eggshell is my favourite track from Lifeforms, so it's a shame this EP was never released, as I think it would have been a stunning work.
