Papua New Guinea (Dub Mix) Notes: The original 1991 release mis-spells "Central Industrial" as "Central Industrail". The 1992 and 1996 releases are slightly differently cut to the 1991 release, with track beginning and end points varying. However, the times listed on the tracklist were not updated, leaving both these releases stating incorrect running times. The 1996 US release features a bizarre miscut, with the first half of "Pulse State" being tagged on to the end of "1 In 8", leaving even more running time errors on the tracklist. The 2001 re-release corrects this, with the later cut being used, and track times being updated to suit it. "Accelerator" was the first full-length album by Dougans and Cobain, although it was as much a compilation as anything. "Stolen Documents", "1 In 8", "Pulse State" and "Papua New Guinea" had already been released on various EPs as FSOL tracks, and "Calcium" released as a Yage track. However, the tracks are all mixed together in a primative version of the soundscape technique they would come to use on their later albums. Stylistically, the album is still very much techno, with straight up 4/4 beats on most tracks, and less complexity and depth than the group are known for. The album was re-released with a couple of bonus remixes in 1992, after "Papua New Guinea" became a chart hit in the UK, and finally received a US release four years later. Jumpin' & Pumpin' celebrated ten years of the album with the 2001 re-release of it and the "Papua New Guinea" single. Charts: UK independent album chart: number 2. Purchase from FSOLDigital |
