New FSOL film, 5.1 track, Gaz speaks at Kinetica exhibition
20/10/06

Special thanks to Jem Rayfield who attended Gary Cobain's talk at the Kinetica exhibition on 14th November 2006. Here is a quick summary of the talk from him:

What can I say... Gary certainly is an interesting public speaker. Ten slides lasted two to three hours. Topics included:
1) FSOL history
2) Religion
3) Essential Festival
4) Surround Sound and FSOL's future
5) The Grid (Big Brother)
6) Quantum music theory
7) Kinetica
8) Brian's house/church
9) Bestival
10) Ego
11) Selfishness
12) Health
13) The shite state of the music biz
14) Resonance
15) Amorphous vs FSOL
The speech was Gary's first public standup routine. Yes it did have a few comic moments. The title of the lecture was "Experiments in communicatioC" and it was most interesting. After a slightly nervous start he got rolling so much so that he was going off on many diverse yet intresting tangents. Lots of past music was played and the new surround sound video was played at the end, titled "Stereo Sucks". This should be on the cover of next months Future Music magazine. Recorded at Reading's DTS studio. Quite ambient but very nice. The good news is that FSOL is very much alive at the moment. Gary mentioned six more months of hard slug to create a surround sound master piece!!

Graham backed up the FM news with a link to next month's issue. The 5.1 clip is apparently a clip from the 'A Gigantic Globular Burst Of Anti-Static' piece issued as a soundtrack to the Kinetica installation (clips of which can be heard here) along with the full "Stereo Sucks" video.
